My name is Katarina Vučković and I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I spend my whole life in Bosnia and Herzegovina and started my community participation in high school. Now I´m the executive director at PRONI Center for youth development in Brcko District. I´ve been working in youth NGO sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina for over seven years now, and I´ve been active in this sector for over a decade. I´m working with youth on a daily basis in my home town and I also support youth initiatives across the region, such as supporting different youth groups and young individuals in their studies, work and implementation of youth led projects and their efforts to promote positive youth participation in community. My focuses are youth rights trough community youth work, youth activism and participation and promotion of volunteering.
My work with youth is also on the national level where I’m a member of Commission for coordination of youth issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina within Ministry of Civil Affairs. Additionally I´m representing youth voice in different regional and European networks so my work is also taking place across Europe where I’m a trainer within Youth Express Network for interculturalism, youth activism and volunteerism as well as in topic of using arts in working with youth. I´m also very keen to establish that youth work would become a profession in Bosnia and Herzegovina, because I believe that it can help in youth development and education in future.
I was studying youth work and leadership and now I am a student of social work. In my free time I am an amateur photographer and a member of fire show group. So far I´ve done two exhibitions with a friend.
Why is intercultural dialogue important in general?
As a youth worker I believe that young people learn the best from their own experience and experiences of their peers, intercultural dialogue offers them an important opportunity to share and learn.
